Pets are ‘scared’ and look around for their owners in dying moments, ‘broken-hearted’ vet reveals

A “broken-hearted” vet has revealed how frightened pets search for their owners who have chosen to leave the room when they are put down.

In a viral social media post, the anonymous vet wrote that animals“don’t understand why you left them” in their dying moments.

“I beg you DO NOT LEAVE THEM,” the message shared by Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic in South Africa  read.

    when this time comes i ask vet to sedate my pet. this means vet walks in injects anywhere- no need for another person ie nurse, no need to hold on to leg and no noise of shaver. vet then leaves room and your pet very very slowly goes to sleep with you talking and caressing him/her. takes several minutes of peace calm no fear nobody else but u and your pet. when vet appears and confirms pet is completely asleep the deadly injection can be made without you having to witness it if you want to leave the room
