Dog rescued after cliff fall
Lifeboat volunteers in Newquay have rescued a dog that went over a cliff at Polly Joke.
Two inshore lifeboats were launched with assistance from the coastguard teams from Newquay and St Agnes at 15:50 on Thursday.
Arriving at Polly Joke, the lifeboat crews found the dog stranded on a small ledge at the bottom of the cliff at West Pentire.
One of the RNLI crew “climbed onto the rocks and carried the young spaniel across to the smaller D class inshore lifeboat”, before she was returned safely to her owners waiting on the beach.
Rescue crews said the dog seemed unhurt apart from a few minor scrapes, and they were pleased the owner hadn’t risked their own life to rescue her.
