Adorable golden retriever with rare genetic mutation is winning people’s hearts
When it comes to the internet, we can’t resist cute animal content – be it a dog that looks like a Disney character or a penguin watching episodes of Pingu.
And now we’ve got an adorable new animal to fawn all over.
A golden retriever named Enzo Viola is capturing the hearts of social media users thanks to a very distinctive mark on his face, reports The Daily Star.
Enzo was born with a rare genetic mutation that left him with a black ‘splotch’ of fur on the left side of his face.
The cute pooch has his own Instagram account @mister.enzoviola and has amassed 183,000 followers.
Enzo is owned by the Castro family from Texas who share photos and videos of the playful three-year-old pup.
One clip shows the dog tugging a blue stuffed dinosaur toy as he steps on his tail and sniffs around.
The adorable pooch freezes, stunned, when he realises the toy makes a squeaking sound.
Another video has been viewed more than 10,000 times on Instagram. It shows Enzo dozing off on a bed, all snuggled up in a blanket.
He blinks his eyes slowly and eventually falls asleep. So sweet!
Speaking about her dog, Clarissa Castro said: “Enzo has a genetic mutation, his black splotch!
“He’s special – and who doesn’t like to look at dogs. The mutation doesn’t affect any part of him except for his looks.”
The 15-year-old continued to say that it wasn’t just the cute marking that made her and her family fall head over heels in love with Enzo.
She added: “We got to meet Enzo and his brothers and we instantly fell in love with Enzo not just because of his marking but because he was the sweetest and most playful puppy.
“There’s so much to enjoy spending time with him, one of my favourite things is that he often falls asleep while tugging on a toy, he’ll just slowly lay down and rest with the toy in his mouth.”
