What do dogs not like about humans?

Lots of things.

Dogs don’t like it when we take them to the vet. (shots, blood draws, etc.)

They don’t like going to the dentist either.

They don’t like it when a stranger reaches down and pets them without a proper introduction. Introductions are very important for a dog.

Also, they don’t like it when someone looms over them to pet them. Always let a dog come to you, rather than go to it, and try not to tower or lean over them when you pet them.

Dogs don’t like being left alone. It goes against everything in them.

Dogs don’t like it when you eat the best food, and all they get is dog food.

Dogs hate it when their family members are fighting. Human screaming matches are especially distressing to them.

Dogs don’t like when we give them baths, or medication. (flea meds, heatworm meds. etc)

Dogs don’t like it when you are unhappy, especially if you have a strong bond with them.

Some dogs hate having their feet touched, other dogs really don’t care.

Some dogs hate being petted, others can’t get enough of it.

Some dogs hate exercise, others love it!

So really, it just comes down to the individual dog.

If a dog doesn’t like something they will tell you. Sometimes their body language will stiffen up, sometimes they will lick their lips, or show their teeth, or even growl. A tucked head and cut eyes are a clear signal for you to back off. Other times they will crouch down and submissively wag, or try to lay on their backs, or pee. Most of the time they will pout, or attempt to avoid what you are doing. Whining or crying is another good indicator that your dog is uncomfortable.

Dogs are all about communication, and they are always communicating something, you just have to pay attention.

Think he/she is trying to ask: Now what was that you said?
