These police dogs are looking and keeping cool with some rather special coats. As Britain bakes in the heatwave, Gloucestershire Police has become the first force in the country to kit out their dogs with special cooling coats. And don’t they look adorable wearing them. So far, the dogs have been wearing the coats during drugs training and they’ve been searching for longer without any signs of fatigue.

Pic taken June 2018) – Gloucestershire Police Force has become the first in the country to provide all their police dogs with cooling coats. As the temperatures show no signs of abating, Gloucestershires Police and Crime Commissioner, Martin Surl, has issued all his service dogs with jackets that will help keep them cool dogs.They’ve even been involved in firearms recoveries, working for periods of up to four hours without overheating. Dog Section PC Claire Todd said: ‘They are like coats. They’re lightweight, very easy to put on and fit comfortably under their police harness. ‘The dogs aren’t bothered by them at all.
