Moment fire crew freed puppy from van wreckage after one-hour battle

THIS is the heartwarming moment firefighters rescued a puppy from the mangled wreckage of a van after a three-vehicle pile-up.

One-year-old Memphis was wedged in the footwell of the Vauxhall Vivaro after it collided with two cars during the morning rush hour.

One driver, a man in his 30s, required hospital treatment. Another, a woman in her 20s, was treated at the scene for bruising to a leg.

But the grey-and-white Staffordshire bull terrier was trapped inside the twisted remains of the van.

Firefighters spent nearly an hour using cutting equipment to free Memphis after the crash at 7.57am on Friday near Barthomley, Staffordshire.

A spokesman said: ‘Miraculously the puppy was uninjured.’

Pictures of the puppy rescue went viral on Twitter, with more than 5,000 people viewing and sharing them.
