Homeless man’s dog Marley needs help.

Dear all
We were called out to a emergency rescue tonight, for a dog called Marley.
Marley and his owner are homeless and he cannot get any help, fortunately we were contacted by Medway Street Angels to assist.
Marley has a deep laceration on his leg and is very sore. We have managed to find veterinary help for him.
We are appealing for help fundraising to pay for Marley’s treatment
Can you help. Please donate via PayPal using our email address
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Medway Street Angels for their help and Kent police for their assistance and concern for both the dog and gentleman’s welfare.
Kent police issued a reference number for this rescue. 28-1384

I saw this on facebook last night, how awful that no one wanted to help. So sad 😟

Well done artisan rare breeds, at least there are some decent people still out there.

Glad this is on the blog as just about to send out messages…

Last night in these freezing conditions Wayne of artisan rare breed was called out by Medway street angels to assist with a dog and his owner – living in a tent in Rochester.. First experience of snow the dog has leapt round and some how cut his leg on something hid under the snow. This is not a graze but a deep laceration through muscle possible down to the bone. It had bleed for 6 hours before Wayne got there- his owner had taken more care of his dog than himself and tried his best to stem the flow- saving grace was the cold weather as blood was cooler so not flowing fast.
Street angels called the RSPCA who deemed this not an emergency and the tone changes when they know it is homeless person. Wayne himself spent over 20 minutes speaking to them but no help came forward or any phone call back!!
Despite having loads of paper work – homeless because he lost his job and was made to leave his home. PDSA could not help this homeless person- with free care ? What is needed to get help from them?
Tested and NOT on drugs – just a person fallen on hard times. Any treatment will be charged for .

Wayne has told him he will help and get the dog sorted and making arrangements this morning to transport them somehow to PDSA. The man was in tears at his generosity and compassion.

Wayne will need funds so if can spare anything …..Please donate via PayPal using email address

The only persons to help last night were Street angels and Kent police ( reference 28-1384) who stayed on the phone concerned with welfare of both until Wayne confirmed bleeding under control and no further assistance needed so they stood down) – –

So well done to both Kent police and street angels–and shame on the RSPCA- what do you actually do if cannot help an injured dog- if this was a high profile case on the TV – we would not see you for dust ( or in this case snow) while you rush to help as get media coverage – look at us helping this poor dog!!

My donation is on its way..every little will help.

Totally shocked (but not unexpected) response by RSPCA. Thought they were supposed to help animals in distress. Well done to Medway Street Angels, Kent Police and Artisan Rare Breeds. This poor man and his dog need our help and I have sent a donation. If everyone sent a little, hopefully vet costs will be covered. Please get well soon Marley.

Thank you….Have also made a donation for Marley…Wayne please update us when you know the vets bill and if there is a short fall.
Again must praise Wayne as he in this atrocious weather is having to look after his own rescue animals( some lambing) and still finds time to assist any animal in need of help.

Yes great work by Wayne – already coping in tis weather with his own rescue – all his other animals – ( sheep lambing) plus the distance he travelled in appalling weather from Dartford to Rochester ( around 15 miles each way) and will be going back to collect Marley to take him to the vets.
Lets hope Marley will be made comfortable and the gash on his leg soon heals without any lasting damage or problems.
If i was wearing one – Wayne I take my hat off to you.

Thank you for all the kind comments and the donations towards marleys care.

I dont think any case has ever made me so angry or disappointed, as soon as we’ve mentioned homeless person the amount of doors shut in our face was incredible. This gentleman was just homeless and loves his dog, and both victims of circumstance.
We honestly need no thanks, i personally made a conscious decision to help animals and there welfare and to serve the community .
Marley has now been seen by the vet, his wound cannot be stitched or glued, and will remain open, thankfully there was only soft tissue damage and the bleeding has been stemmed. Marley is now on antibiotics and pain killers and must return to the vets in ten days time.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to medway street angels who do a fantastic job, and have looked after marley and damian.
Also to the local community for supplying blankets and food. My faith has been restored.
    Forever grateful

Wayne has just phoned with an update as just back from the vets he now has to attend to his rescue animals. He sincerely thanks everyone for their kind donations that have covered the vets bills and the medication needed for the next 10 days with enough left over for a warm coat for Marley….He will be going back to the vets tomorrow to pay the bill and take some photos.
Now that says it all to me! He has to make another trip to the vets to pay …as not enough money in the charity’s bank account this morning to cover….until now…( thanks to you!)
Wayne spent hours trying to get the RSPCA to help…And I know he is a proud person so when he emailed me this morning …it was his last resort…he needed help for Marley!
Also many phone calls later he has secured temporary accomodation for Marleys owner.
    What a star!

I took the owner and Marley to the vets yesterday for his treatment. I must say what a lovely dog and owner 😊 Marley has been really spoilt with treats and food! They were really happy when I dropped them back to their camp and Marley has a couple of nice warms coats I left with him and some toys.
Amazing that the bill has been covered for him. So nice to see the amount of people who have also been up to see him and bring supplies. Restores your faith in humans!

I cannot believe the RSPCA/PDSA did not help this man. I thought all vets went into there profession, for the love of animals. Obviously not !! . Except Wayne……You are a kind , loving man. When i had 5 bags of warm clothing, i donated to Street Angels. I am sooo glad i did. You do a marvellous job. Hope this is taken up by the media.
