Great Dane who is scared of everything.
Fierce-looking Dez the Great Dane has checked into rehab – because he’s terrified of everything.
The 6ft 2in beast had been tipped to become the ultimate guard dog to deter burglars.
But instead he turned into a real-life Scooby Doo who is even afraid of his neighbour’s pugs.
Fed-up owner Mary-Ann Riley struggles to walk Dez because he is scared of cars and lampposts. she said he jumps into her arms at the slightest noise such as rustling bags or the dishwasher.
Mary-Ann, 46, spent two years trying to ‘toughen up’ her petrified pooch before seeking professional help.
She booked Dez into behaviour therapy classes in the hope it would give him some confidence.
But after more than 200 sessions, costing an eye-watering £1,500, he is still a big softy.
Mary-Ann, from Alfreton, Derbys, said: “When we first got Dez he was petrified of everything – he was the real-life Scooby Doo.
“He used to be scared of anything covered in faux fur, he’d flinch when I’d open a tin and cower in fear whenever we walked past a lamp post.
“I knew that I had to do something to help him get over his fears, or he’d be too scared to live his life.
“I found a dog training course that would help him get over his worries, and we’ve been twice a week for over two years.
“But despite that, he is still scared by lawn mowers, tractors, motorbikes and the neighbour’s four pugs.”
