Emergency help for homeless and their dogs

Temperatures are set to dip below zero.

Due to this we are activating our ‘Severe Weather Emergency Protocol’ which means we will provide temporary accommodation for people who are sleeping rough on the streets.

We have also arranged for any dogs owned by people who are being provided with temporary accommodation to be placed in kennels free of charge if they arrive with us before midnight.
Those who need emergency accommodation are advised to come to the Civic Centre as soon as possible.

If you need to contact us for accommodation after 5pm or over the weekend please call our out of hours number on 01303 221888.

The weather will be monitored and the protocol will be reviewed at 9am on Monday 11 December 2017 and extended or ended as the weather forecast dictates.

You can find out more about our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol on our website www.shepway.gov.uk/sleeping-rough-in-winte

We’re providing emergency accommodation for people with nowhere to sleep. Rough sleepers are being encouraged to visit Kingsley House, in Balmoral Road, Gillingham today (Friday) before 4.45pm. Temperatures are expected to drop this weekend so please help us *share* this message.
