Devoted pet owner splashes out THOUSANDS a year on buying clothes for her Pug

A devoted dog owner has revealed how she splashes out thousands a year on buying High Street clothes for her two pugs.

Emma Burden, 30, from Leicester, goes shopping in the kids’ sections of Next, River Island and Asda to ensure her dogs Marty, three, and Layla, eight, stand out from the crowd.

The office supervisor explained how she likes her pooches to be wearing something new every time they go to an event, and has taught herself to sew in order to customise their outfits.

Marty and Layla are regularly invited to birthday parties and dog shows, and have their own diary so that Emma can keep track of their busy social calendar.

In fact, since Emma and her husband Shaun, 30, welcomed Marty – named after Marty McFly from Back to the Future – and Layla, who is blind, into their home, the pugs have quickly become an Instagram sensation.

Speaking about her decision to spend hundreds a month on her dogs’ outfits, Emma said: ‘I like them to wear something new each time we go to an event and would never want them to have a clash with any other dog.
